The Ethiopian National Association of Persons Affected By Leprosy (ENAPAL) is a right based association, which was established in November 1996 after 30 persons affected by leprosy who live in Addis Ababa came together to discuss issues related to the decline of ALERT’s medical services, which later grew in to association by taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the then new Ethiopian constitutional right to be legally organized. The national commitment of the association is vast as far as persons affected by leprosy are found across Ethiopia. At present ENAPAL has been formed in 7 regional associations and in 57 more than 63 local associations. Moreover, The Association is the founding and an active member of the Ethiopian Federation of Persons with Disabilities, EFPD.The association implemented more than 22 projects and currently run 16 of them in the area of awareness and advocacy, Housing, income generating schemes for individuals and groups, primary and higher education.
